The Champions League Is Back

After to long , far to long away, Liverpool five time winners are back in the Champions League as we open our campaign against Ludogarets Razgrad of Bulgaria, not the huge European name some if us had hoped for but still a huge night for our club and supporters.
We all remember, or have heard about legendary Liverpool nights in Europe at Anfield such as Milan, St. Etienne, and Olympiacos where the team have achieved stunning victories or Real Madrid and Juventus where the fans and the Kop have caused teams, the very best in Europe to wither and eventually die as hey were swept away by Liverpool, but we have missed those nights as we have been forced to watch others take our place.
Despite our exclusion from the tournament in recent years we are five time winners, the most successful British Club in Europe but those trophies are in our museam, they are there for all to look at and admire, but the time has come for for us to take our place at the very top table once again, and for Anfield to once again hear the champions league music.
Tuesday will be a great night and hopefully a fantastic atmosphere, Ludogarets are not a top name but are creating their own romantic story this year and have achieved wonderfully well to reach this far in the competition, they will come and play with pride, passion and without any fear, we must respect them and be up for the match and not just the occasion, we can't afford any slip ups.  I'm sure all our players want to be part of this fabulous occasion and will want to sample what I'm certain will be a great atmosphere (with even better to come) but we must be sensible and ensure we get the three points whilst endeavouring to ensure that players remain fit and fresh for future challenges.
As normal the support will have a vital role to play, they must do their bit in helping to make the occasion of our return to the Champions League special for the players and themselves, but they also need to do their bit in lifting the team and players and help to ensure that at the end of the night we have not just had a party but have three points in the bag to celebrate as well.
Liverpool, our fans and our stadium have legendary status around Europe, let's make sure that after not only this game but this seasons campaign that we have enhanced that status with a great performance both on the pitch and in the stands.
